We are a family-owned, Scandinavian-inspired Day Nursery and Forest School established in 2003. Our Nursery is based in Hipperholme, Halifax, and provides a warm, welcoming environment where children feel safe, inspired, and supported in their early learning journey. Hipperholme also serves as our Community Meeting Point, where children and staff meet before being transported to our dedicated Forest School site, which was officially registered with Ofsted in 2023. We are proudly independent and have grown continuously while staying true to our values. Nature is at the core of everything we do, supporting children’s physical, intellectual, and emotional development—whether through outdoor woodland learning or the natural design of our nursery spaces. You can find more information about our Nursery and Forest School sites from their dedicated sections on our website.
We pride ourselves on being open and transparent with parents, valuing them as true partners while supporting children to grow into healthy, confident and resilient learners, inspired to reach their full potential.
We maintain staffing levels in full accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements, and all members of our team are permanently employed and hold a range of relevant early years qualifications.
Our teams are carefully structured to ensure a balance of highly qualified, experienced practitioners working alongside early years apprentices, supporting both high-quality practice and the professional development of future educators.
All staff are deeply committed to upholding our nursery values and providing a nurturing, inspiring environment for every child.

Greenglade offers thoughtfully designed indoor and outdoor facilities inspired by Scandinavian Forest School principles. The nursery features bright, spacious learning areas with natural wood furnishings, floor-to-ceiling windows, and direct access to outdoor play spaces. Children benefit from outdoor play areas, woodland exploration, and a private forest school site that encourages hands-on, child-led learning in nature. The setting also includes safe, stimulating environments that support creativity, independence, and year-round outdoor education experiences.

Visiting Greenglade gives families and children the opportunity to experience its warm, learning environment firsthand. Parents can explore the bright indoor classrooms, natural outdoor play areas, and dedicated forest school spaces while meeting the experienced and caring staff team. The visit allows families to gain a better understanding of the school’s child-led approach, outdoor learning philosophy, and welcoming atmosphere designed to support every child’s growth and development.
