New Forest School Shelter
31/08/2020
Last week our Forest School children were fascinated to see a big digger roll into the Forest School. They tried guessing what it was doing.
In reality, the digger was levelling an area of ground ready for our new Forest School shelter. This is going to be a large insulated yurt, designed to provide a warm shelter during the winter months. Once this is complete we are going to start work on a large outdoor kitchen within the same area. We have contracted The Really Interesting Tent Company (www.thereallyinterestingtentcompany.co.uk) to construct this on our behalf. Work will start to buid the insulated decking for it to sit on next week. The yurt should be finished within the next few weeks.

The benefits of outdoor learning
We passionately believe that children experience a huge range of benefits when they are playing and learning outside in natural environments. The natural world provides an infinite amount more learning resources and opportunities that can ever be provided in a single room or playground. This why we have purchased a completely secure and private nine acre field in Denholme, which it is in the process of developing into our own forest school facility, where children can be taken to enjoy playing and learning all day in a totally natural environment. We are not alone in believing this as a large number of studies show that children benefit from learning outdoors in many ways.
