Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator

A unique opportunity now exists for a full time SENDCo in work in our very different kind of setting.

You will join a team which is committed to providing a safe an inclussive learning environment where all children are valued and encouraged to reach their full potential and where aspirations for all children and staff are very high.

Your main duties will include:

  1. Reposibile for the day to day operation of the Nursery SEND policy and ensuring all staff members have a clear understanding of policies/procedures relating to SEND.
  2. Support practitioners who may have any developing concerns regarding an individual child's development.
  3. Provide direct support to individual children with SEND.
  4. Form and maintain professional relationships with parents and carers, providing relevant support and advice.
  5. Work with a wide range of agencies and implement inovative ways to continually improve outcomes. 
  6. Liaise with a wide range of agencies, ensuring relevant records, documents and reports are completed in a timely manner and to a high standard.
  7. Represent the Nursery at all relevant meetings. 

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Relevant Level Three Qualification (essential).
  2. Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS Framework (essential).
  3. Relevant SEN experience with children aged 0 to 5 years (essential).
  4. Knowledge of SEN Code of Practice (desirable).
  5. Experience of making referals, implementing individual plans, applying for funding, EHCP processes (desirable).
  6. Experience of using Derbyshire Tracking to monitor development (desirable}.

The successful candidate must therefore be able to demonstrate a high level of experience and professional knowledge an be committed to developing this role.

The successful applicant will work under the supervision of the Nursery manager and will also be a member of the Nursery Senior Management Team. All relevant training and support will be provided. Applicants are recommended to view all of the Nursery website for further information.

Salary: £21,840 (negotiable depending upon experience and qualification).

Working Pattern: Forty hours (worked over five days, Monday to Friday, each week).

Assistant Manager (Advert Now Closed).

Our nursery is expanding and we are seeking to appoint a motivated and imaginative leader who will oversee the overall management of our Under 2s unit, leading and supporting a team of well qualified staff.

The successful applicant will work under the direction of the Nursery Manager and will also be a member of the Nursery Senior Management Team and as such will also be allocated a number of identified Nursery-wide responsibilities. Working hours for this role are 40 hours per week.

The Nursery draws heavily upon Scandinavian influences in its philosophy and practice, building upon both proprietors experience of living and working in Denmark. We are currently in the process of developing our own Forest School in our own secure, offsite, nine-acre field. Our onsite Outdoor Learning Area is an integral part of our development as a Nature Nursery. The successful applicant will play an important role in developing this area, working with the team to provide a safe and stimulating space for children to play, learn and develop.

The successful applicant will lead a well-qualified team of staff within the Unit and will be responsible for ensuring that the EYFS underpins all its work, therefore, an excellent working knowledge of the EYFS framework is essential. The Nursery is continually developing and practice is always evidence based. As Unit Manager, you would be expected to evaluate the quality of care and education provided on an ongoing basis, implementing improvements and innovations as necessary.

We have three dedicated team leaders within the Under 2s unit which enables us to work in smaller teams throughout the day, with each leader responsible for a small group of staff and children. The maximum number of children within the Under 2s per day is 30. The successful applicant will work closely with the team leaders to ensure the smooth day to day operation of the Unit. You will liaise with new families who are joining the nursery by undertaking home visits and arranging regular settling in sessions to support their transition into the Nursery.

As the successful applicant would be responsible for leading a staff team with a wide range of qualifications and experience, a relevant degree level qualification would be advantageous. However, we are willing to consider applicants with a relevant Level 3 qualification and an appropriate level of experience, conditional upon agreement regarding further training.

The minimum starting salary for this role is £21,840. This is negotiable depending on the level of experience and qualification.

We have a well established and professional staff group, supported by a  competent and experienced senior management team. To maintain quality and continuity of care, we always have more staff on duty than Ofsted minimum staffing ratios require, enabling us to cover for staff holidays and sickness at short notice. All our staff are permanently contracted employees of the Nursery.
